Center Theatre Players (CTP) is pleased to announce The Mystery of Edwin Drood as their 2018 summer production.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a hilarious, interactive “whodunit” mystery musical that allows the audience to become the ultimate detectives. The show is based on Charles Dickens’ last, unfinished novel. Set in the small town of Cloisterham, England, the young and charming Edwin Drood has been mysteriously murdered. But by whom? Dickens passed away before he was able to reveal the culprit. Now only the audience can decide! This charming and inventive musical is sure to intrigue and entertain any musical or mystery lover.

Drood will be performed on July 26, 27 and 28, 2018 at the Rochester Borough Theater Complex located at 350 Adams Street, Rochester, PA 15074. More information on show times and ticket sales will be announced soon. CTP will be holding auditions for the summer show on April 8th and 9th, and welcomes actors ages 16+ to audition for this exciting murder mystery of a musical.

Auditions will be held on from 2 to 4PM Sunday, April 8th and from 6:30 to 8:30PM on Monday, April 9th at the Rochester Borough Theater. Interested individuals can sign up online (https://bit.ly/2IVsgQd) to reserve a 10 minute audition time slot. In addition to completing the online form, actors must prepare a Broadway style song, up to a minute and a half in length. Those that are interested in a leading role may sing a song from the show, though it is not required. Auditioners may bring their own accompanist (a keyboard is available onsite) or a digital recording without lead vocals can be used as an accompaniment.

ANNOUNCING THE 2016 MUSICAL…..”MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT”

“Spamalot” tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical also diverts a bit from more traditional versions of the legend.

This will be CTP’s second summer musical production to be performed in the Rochester Borough Theater.  The theater has presented many challenges, but the faithful volunteers continue their hard work and dedication to restoring the space.  After their highly successful Christmas production, “Christmas Memories”, the group has been expanding and growing with plans to bring even bigger and more spectacular shows to the community.  Spamalot features an unbelievably  talented cast from Beaver, Lawrence, and Allegheny counties.  Their “crazy” antics on stage coupled with amazing voices and fun-filled dancing will have keep the audience roaring with laughter.

PLEASE DONATE TO THE CAUSE

No donation is too small!!
In the midst of putting together a musical, we are also trying to clean and restore the Rochester Borough Theater to its former glory.  Because of this, we have many new expenses, plus we are receiving no funding from the Cultural Center.  This is a huge undertaking and any amount that you can donate will be greatly appreciated.  We are calling on all former CTP alum, friends of the theater, and anyone who wants to see the arts thrive in and around western PA to help us achieve our goal.  Please consider making a donation to help keep community theater and the arts alive in Beaver County!!!

ANNOUNCING THE 2015 MUSICAL

CHILDREN OF EDEN

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz

CTP is proud to announce its 2015 musical Children of Eden.  Children of Eden casts the beloved biblical stories of Genesis through the personal lens of family.  The musical starts with the very beginning: the creation of the universe. Father breathes life into his children, Adam and Eve, and learns that the hardest part of being a loving Father is letting go. It’s a lesson that translates into the parenting of Cain, Abel, and Seth — and is reiterated once again as Noah parents his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

This will be the group’s first musical in the new venue.  The show will be performed in the Rochester Borough Theater located at 350 Adams Street, Rochester, PA  15074.  CTP is thrilled to be performing in this classic concert hall.

CENTER THEATRE PLAYERS, OUR HISTORY

Center Theatre Players is a community theater group that has presented musicals as part of the Brodhead Cultural Center’s summer series since the ’80’s.  In the beginning, the group performed at the outdoor amphitheater located on the Penn State Beaver Campus and in the late ‘90’s moved to the new indoor theater where they have performed thru 2014. For over thirty years, CTP has thrilled audiences with their presentations of such well known classics as: South Pacific, Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Man of La Mancha, and 1776. In addition to the classics, CTP has also introduced audiences to newer and lesser-known musicals such as City of Angels, Leader of the Pack, Drood, Big River, Into the Woods, Drowsy Chaperone, and Sweeney Todd. All performers are local western Pennsylvania singers, actors, and dancers who have a keen interest in theater and love of the arts. Founder and director, Sandy Reigel, has been at the helm and has directed over 40 community theater musicals along with award winning musicals at Center High School, Beaver High School, and currently at Central Valley High School.
